Social Impact Fellowship

The Social Impact Fellowship is a unique educational opportunity for rising Columbia juniors and seniors interested in becoming leaders in solving complex global challenges.

During a five-week summer program, fellows will deepen their understanding of social impact issues and learn how they can pursue careers focused on making a difference. They will work with social impact leaders and receive training on approaches to solving complex societal challenges.

The program provides fellows with a $6,500 stipend to use towards housing and other living expenses.

Program Components

During the program, fellows will:

  • Participate in a series of interactive workshops and seminars
  • Gain exposure to the work of Columbia World Projects
  • Meet and learn from social impact leaders
  • Participate in gatherings with thought leaders from a variety of sectors and fields

Eligibility

The fellowship accepts applications from Columbia students who:

  • Are currently enrolled in a program at Columbia College, School of General Studies, School of Engineering and Applied Science, or Barnard College that will lead to a Bachelor’s degree
  • Will be rising juniors or seniors at the start of the fellowship
  • Will have completed at least one full semester on Columbia University's campus by the start of the fellowship
  • Are in good academic standing, as described by Columbia University’s Grading and Academic Standing
  • Are passionate about expanding their knowledge of social impact topics and exploring various fields/career paths within and beyond their social impact areas of interest
