Mumbai

Columbia’s gateway to South Asia.

Mumbai

In the financial capital of India, energy and economic dynamism exist alongside the complex challenges of a 21st-century megacity. Visiting this dynamic port city is like walking the streets of a living laboratory, where solutions to challenges facing many major cities — from rapid urbanization and climate change threats – are conceptualized and tested.

Columbia Global Center Mumbai is located in the city's central business district, one of the most well-connected neighborhoods of the city. Since 2010, the team has been building relationships with key institutions throughout the country, from universities and research centers to government agencies and NGOs.

What does this mean for faculty? Easier access to research partners and collaborators in South Asia. And for students? Direct access to transformative learning experiences working hand-in-hand with partners on the ground.

Whether focused on transportation solutions, water management approaches, or cancer research, the Global Center in Mumbai is facilitating knowledge exchange, and advancing the interdisciplinary research needed to tackle complex issues facing India and the world.
