Join us for a workshop focused on the intersection of climate change and migration, specifically examining how journalists can effectively and compellingly cover these pressing issues. Our discussion will bring together journalists who have experience in covering this challenging beat.

The phrase “climate migrants” often conjures images of rapid, large-scale population shifts from developing nations to more developed countries. Our discussion will explore this complex issue amid escalating climate crises and offer journalists strategies to avoid sensationalism while accurately and ethically reporting on the realities of climate migration.

Workshop 3: Visualising Migration and Climate Change

Thursday 12 December, 5 to 6:30pm (CET)

  • Kate Stanworth, Photographer and picture editor
  • Fabeha Monir, Visual Journalist and Filmmaker

In this dynamic workshop, we will explore the challenge of creating visuals that accurately and empathetically represent migration and climate change. Featuring photographer Kate Stanworth and other experts, this workshop addresses common visual tropes and offers tools to empower photojournalists and editors to approach these topics with greater understanding and empathy.
