Beijing

Columbia’s gateway to East Asia.

Beijing

In China’s political, cultural, and educational capital, Columbia Global’s Center in Beijing connects Columbia with the ideas and institutions shaping East Asia.

Located in the Haidian District — the intellectual and entrepreneurial heart of Beijing, near Zhongguancun, China’s “Silicon Valley” — the Center sits at the intersection of research, innovation, and collaboration. It provides a meeting ground for scholars, practitioners, and students working across disciplines to address shared challenges and advance new forms of knowledge.

Since opening more than a decade ago, the Beijing Center has served as a catalyst for dialogue and partnership between Columbia and China’s leading universities, innovators, and research networks. It supports joint scholarship, cultural exchange, and initiatives that explore themes ranging from climate and public health to technology and social innovation.

The Center builds communities of inquiry — spaces where ideas take root, partnerships evolve, and research leads to meaningful action. It fosters collaboration among scholars, innovators, and emerging leaders who are advancing solutions with local relevance and global impact.
